Yolanda Adams says her new single, Be Still, on her just-released CD, Becoming, is “the answer to a prayer.”
It has been six years since her last studio CD, Day By Day, and during that time she learned about patience.
“I’m so glad that God gave me a lesson in humility and in quietness,” she says. “Because here we are, with a song that everybody is gravitating to, and I’m so proud of it.”
The song reminds listeners to be still, and listen to what God wants you to do. “I wanted this to be an album of joy and reflection, thanksgiving and encouragement.”
The Grammy winner, who’s best known for the hits The Battle Is Not Yours and Open My Heart, is also an entrepreneur and has a fashion line set to launch in September.
The Yolanda Adams Collection features fashions that are flattering for the petite, plus-size and taller woman, she says, and can be purchased at yolandaadamslive.com.
“There’s a market out there for taller women, there’s a market out there for ample beauty-bodied women. And when you cater to them, they come back and give you ideas. We’re just trying to put a twist on the things that are there already. We didn’t need to reinvent the wheel — we’ll just improve it.”
