GREENVILLE, S.C. —
A Greenville County student has died after being shot at Tanglewood Middle School on Thursday.
Community activist Bruce Wilson said Jamari Cortez Bonaparte Jackson died at the hospital. Advertisement
Wilson released the following statement on behalf of the family:
“We are all devastated by today’s tragedy. We love Jamari dearly and we would ask that our privacy be respected as we grieve during this very difficult time.”
Greenville County deputies said a school resource officer requested backup just before 12:30 p.m.
More than 200 law enforcement officers arrived at the school.
