More than 3,000 people have died from Covid-19,
the disease caused by the new coronavirus, with the vast majority of the deaths being reported on the Chinese mainland where the outbreak began. The grim milestone was reached as South Korea announced it would change its outbreak management strategy in light of the steadily rising number of infections there. Meanwhile, China has strengthened border security to prevent the virus from being imported back into the country from more recent outbreaks elsewhere.
